Yorktown summer concert series kicks off June 3

Yorktown’s Sounds of Summer concerts kick off on Thursday, June 3 at Riverwalk Landing. The series runs Thursday from 7 to 9:30 p.m. through Aug. 12, with no concert on July 1.

Opening the 10-week series is Tidewater Drive Band followed by a schedule that includes some bands that are new to the waterfront including Bachelor Boys Band, The Uptown Band and Another Level. All the concerts are free to the public.

The schedule includes: (Tidewater Drive Band, June 3), The Main Event Band (June 10), En’Novation (June 17), Brasswind (June 24), Slapnation (July 8), Bachelor Boys Band (July 15), Band of Oz (July 22), Soul Expressions (July 29), The Uptown Band (Aug. 5) and Another Level (Aug. 12).

Under new guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, those who are fully vaccinated are not required to wear masks, although individuals who are not yet vaccinated are still strongly encouraged to do so.

Anyone displaying COVID-19 symptoms, or who has been in contact with someone who has tested positive for the virus within 14 days, is not permitted to enter. Hand sanitizer stations will be available in multiple locations throughout the venue and there will be routine cleaning and disinfection in high contact/traffic areas throughout the event.

Guests are permitted to bring their own blankets, chairs and small coolers. No tables, umbrellas or tents are allowed. There will also be no dance floor.

Free parking is available at the Riverwalk Landing parking terrace, York Hall, York County Courts and Office Complex, and other public parking lots throughout town. The Yorktown Trolley will run from 5 to 10 p.m. during every concert with a modified route that still includes some of the stops on the outskirts of town.
