Yo Kool frozen yogurt shop opens in Hayes

Yo Kool, a frozen yogurt shop, opened for business in early June at York River Crossing Shopping Center, Hayes.

Yun Bo Yang owns the business with his son, Johnny, a sophomore at George Mason University. They reside in Williamsburg.

Johnny Yang said the store serves a dozen flavors of frozen yogurt at a time, rotating flavors like dark chocolate, mango, strawberry-banana and cheesecake. Customers can pick from three size cups and fill them with one or more types of yogurt and a wide range of toppings (fresh fruits, nuts, candy and cereals). Also, bottled soda and water are sold. The cups are weighed and customers pay by the ounce.

 

The shop has seats for inside dining and a few casual outdoor chairs in the front, and the most popular flavors in the first days of business have been vanilla, cheesecake and strawberry-banana (which is a sugar-free version).

The Yangs have seven employees, who rotate between the Hayes shop and a sister store they opened in New Kent County...
