The Middle Peninsula Fine Arts Association, a Virginia Museum of Fine Arts community partner, will sponsor the program “World of Weaving” at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 16, at Arts on Main in Gloucester. It is free and open to the public.
The speaker is Dr. Kathryn Swanson, executive director of Arts on Main. Herself an avid weaver, she will share a brief overview of the ancient history of weaving, the variety of woven fabrics, and the mechanics of handweaving on a modern loom.
Those who would like to join association members at dinner at 5:45 p.m. should email tishgrant1@gmail.com no later than Sunday, Jan. 12. The cost is $23.
