Woodville School opening soon for public use

The Woodville Rosenwald Foundation plans to hold a soft opening of the Woodville School at the end of December.
The Woodville Rosenwald Foundation and the Gloucester NAACP plan to have an official grand opening of the historic building in Ordinary on Jan. 24, with a reception for Gloucester Superintendent of Schools Dr. Anthony Vladu, from 4-6 p.m.
The school will also be featured in a documentary currently being done by Tom Lassiter and Jere Snider about Virginia’s Rosenwald Schools.
Woodville School was built in 1923 and is the only one of seven Rosenwald Schools constructed in Gloucester County that remains.
The Rosenwald School project built more than 5,000 schools, shops, and teacher homes in the United States primarily for the education of African-American children in the South during the early 20th century.
