With triple OT, CCS boys win Virginia Prep League basketball title

The Christchurch School boys’ basketball team got by Trinity Episcopal School of Richmond, 77-74, in triple overtime Saturday to win the Virginia Prep League Tournament at Trinity.

Trinity led the contest, 35-26, going into the locker room but the Seahorses returned to the court to even the score at 42 going into the final quarter. At the end of regulation, the game was notched at 56. The teams battled through two overtime periods before Christchurch held on to its advantage late in the third OT period.

CCS coach Ben Thompson was named the Prep League Coach of the Year and CCS junior Jordan Wallace of Hampton, was named the tournament MVP.

The Seahorses will meet Hampton Roads Academy in their first round of the VISAA state tournament.
