The first weekend in February saw bird counts across the Middle Peninsula and Northern Neck as part of the annual Winter Waterfowl Count. The Gloucester team counted 7,387 individual birds of 41 different species. Teams counted on Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 4-5, in Caroline, Essex, Middlesex, Richmond, Lancaster, Northumberland, Westmoreland, King George, Mathews, Gloucester and King and Queen counties.
