The Middle Peninsula Amateur Radio Club had a great turnout for its Winter Field Day 2024, which was held on Jan. 27-28 at the Abingdon Rescue Squad Station #3 just off Route 17 in Hayes. The field day started at 2 p.m. on Saturday and continued for a 24-hour period. Its objective was to set up an amateur radio field station and successfully make multiple contacts with other stations using voice and Morse code. Three HF stations were on the air and made 196 contacts with other stations in the U.S. and Canada. Participating hams included, from left, Bobby Forrest, Rich Molinski, Alan Lambert, Danny Wright, Chris Rhoney, Will Hrachovina, Mike Dirle and Dean Marzocca.
