The Middle Peninsula Amateur Radio Club will participate in Winter Field Day 2024 on Jan. 27 and 28 at the Abingdon Rescue Squad Station #3 just off Route 17 in Hayes. The event will start at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 27 and continue for a 24-hour period. The objective is to set up an amateur radio field station and successfully make multiple contacts with other stations using voice and Morse code. Successful participants are those who can set up their equipment and correctly log the designated exchange of the contacts made. Set up for this year’s event will begin around noon. The public is invited to attend. A GOTA station (Get On The Air) will be available to anyone who wishes to try out amateur radio. Young adults and children are invited. A highly trained coach will supervise all GOTA activities and enhance the fun experience. More information can be found at https://winterfieldday.org.
