Winners of 2 RAL Art Center exhibits named

July brings two new exhibits to the RAL Art Center, 19 Main Street, Kilmarnock. The 120 original artworks in these shows, “Driven to Abstraction” and “Small Works,” include paintings, photography, fiber art, glass, and sculpture entered by member artists.
Professional artist Gloria Clifford of White Stone judged both shows. She announced the winners and shared her comments at a public reception on Friday at the RAL Art Center.
For first place in “Driven to Abstraction,” Clifford selected “Uplift,” an acrylic painting on composite by Michael Stevens. The judge said she was immediately struck by the incredibly bold brush strokes of blue over blue. Second place went to “Waterfall,” a mixed media piece by Joan Willoughby. Third place was awarded to “The Conjuring,” a mixed medium piece by Robin Brown.
