February brings two new art exhibits, “Black, White, and Grey All Over” and “A Touch of Color” to the RAL Art Center, 19 North Main Street, Kilmarnock.
The two RAL members open exhibits include 59 original art works, including paintings, photography, fiber art, glass, and sculpture. These exhibitions opened Jan. 31 and will be on display until Feb. 24.
Dr. Kathryn (“Kate”) Swanson, Executive Director of Gloucester Arts on Main, judged both exhibits. Sharon Stone, Executive Director of the RAL Art Center, and exhibits team member Juli Schuszler presented the awards and comments on behalf of the shows’ judge at the public reception on Friday at the RAL Art Center.
For first place in “Black, White, and Grey All Over,” Swanson selected “BWGAO,” an acrylic painting by Karen Kingsley. Swanson said that the painting had her coming back for multiple looks and that “it is one of those paintings that demands close examination yet always has something more to share no matter how long you study it...
