The Mathews County Woman’s Club will hold an open house from 1-3 p.m. Sunday to present artwork from the three county public schools.
The art has already been judged by Martha Anne King of Hallieford with ribbons and best in show awards at each school level.
Marissa Hudgins of Lee-Jackson Elementary School took the best in show for her model Magic Tiger; Olivia Ashbaugh of Thomas Hunter Middle School won best in show for her marker drawing of a horse; Maddie Maggioncalda of Mathews High School took the best in show for a pencil drawing.
King also awarded a judge’s choice to Kara Kelly for an acrylic painted chair. A release said these students will all receive gift certificates for an art class from the Bay School Community Arts Center.
The club also recognized art teachers Vanessa Fry from Lee-Jackson, Alex Borick at Thomas Hunter and Rachel Morris at MHS.
