Sal’s Sicilian Pizza and Restaurant on Route 17 in Hayes opened a new ice cream truck called Winkin’ Cow on Friday, June 14 in its parking lot.
The truck serves a variety of different flavors of soft serve ice cream in either a cone or a cup with choice of toppings. It also serves milkshakes. The ice cream truck is open daily from noon to 9 p.m.
“We are excited. I know it’s (Winkin’ Cow) going to be good,” said Francesco Leone. “I can’t wait for people to try it. I want to make people happy, especially kids.”
Two of the owners of Sal’s Pizza, Tony DiPaola and Leone, will be taking over the business that was previously owned by Filippo Altavonna. Winkin’ Cow was a popular ice cream truck that was located in Chester and was driven down from Chester to its new home of Gloucester.
“I want it (Winkin’ Cow) to be a nice place for the community,” said Leone.
