WINFRED ‘WIMPY’ LEE HOGGE

Winfred “Wimpy” Lee Hogge, age 90, passed early on Thursday, October 24, 2024. He was the youngest child to parents, Stephen and Leona Hogge, and brother to nine older siblings, all of whom predeceased him.
He was happily married to his wife Camilla for 66 years. During that time, they raised four sons, helped raise four grandchildren, and did what they could for their three great-grandchildren.
Winfred was a founding partner in Baumgardner and Hogge, a general building contractor that later became W.L. Hogge, Inc. Building residential homes was his life’s work.
He thoroughly enjoyed hunting and field trials to show off his prized hounds, one of which was “Leroy.” Being in the woods with his hunting club buddies meant the world to him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, and youngest son, Neal. He leaves behind to cherish his memory wife, Camilla; sons, Michael (Becky) and Damon (Bonnie), all of Hayes, and son, Douglas of Birmingham, Ala.; grandchildren, Damon Hogge Jr., Justin Hogge, Jacob Hogge, and Jessica Hogge; three great-grandchildren, Rylee, Charlotte, and Bradley; a host of nieces and nephews that meant so much to him, and special friends, Luther Jenkins and Johnny White.
Sincere thanks to the hospice nurses and support staff, Michelle, Katie, Jessica, Becky, Amanda, and Makenzie.
The family received friends at Hogg Funeral Home on Monday, October 28, 2024, from 6-7:30 p.m. The memorial service was held on Tuesday, October 29, 2024, beginning at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Hogg Funeral Home. The inurnment will be private.
