A third public hearing is being held on the rowing and sailing center proposed for Williams Wharf Landing in Mathews. The case will be heard before the Mathews County Wetlands Board at 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 24, in the historic courthouse on Court Street.

Seven other applications for construction that will impact wetlands will be heard, as well.

The wetlands board first approved the Williams Wharf project, which consists of a 10,800-square-foot structure to house crew shells, an ergonomic exercise facility, and a large room for gatherings, on May 1. However, the Virginia Marine Resources Commission sent the application back to the wetlands board later that month because of a procedural error.
