Williams catches citation speckled trout

Chris Williams of Hudgins has received a citation from the Virginia Saltwater Fishing Tournament for a 5-pound, 25-inch speckled trout caught on Nov. 28 in the Piankatank River.
As the year winds down on the 2020 fishing tournament, which is operated through the Virginia Marine Resources Commission, there are a few local connections to leading entries.
Keith Nuttall of Gloucester, who boated an 18-pound bluefish last winter at Triangle Wrecks, leads the entries for that species, and in fact has the only citation issued in 2020 for bluefish. The minimum citation weight is 16 pounds.The waters around York Spit Light produced the largest cobia to qualify for a citation in 2020. David Amorim of West Point caught the 94-pound, 8-ounce fish while casing lures.
Matthew Powers of Disputanta has the leading entry in pompano for a four-pound, five-ounce fish caught in Mobjack Bay.
Finally, the 7-pound, 4-ounce Spanish mackerel caught a New Point Comfort by Bud Smith of Powhatan leads all entries...
