William (Bill) T. Johnston, 85, of Gloucester passed away on May 24, 2012 at Riverside Rehabilitation Center.
Bill served in the U.S. Navy as a medic. He worked for A&P and retired from there in 1982. Later he worked for Central Food Service (Gloucester County Public Schools) as a warehouseman for many years. When he stopped working as a warehouseman he then went to work at Gloucester High School cafeteria for many years.
In his spare time he loved to fish, garden, and work outside. He would find the time to do things with his nieces and nephews like taking them fishing, to the zoo, and many other things.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Edwin L. and Mettie Johnston; his brothers, Edwin H. Johnston, Elmer F. Johnston, Wendall L. Johnston; a sister, Ruth J. Peruzzato; two nephews, Joe Peruzzato and Edwin (Ed) Johnston Jr.
He is survived by his wife, Frances Johnston; step-son, Richard Hunt (Gail); step-daughter, Patricia (Patty) Timmons; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
The family received friends on Monday, May 28, 2012, from 6-7 p.m. at Andrews Funeral Home.
A graveside service was held in the chapel at Windsor Gardens Cemetery, Tuesday May 29, at 2 p.m. by the Rev. Aaron West. Following the service there was a reception for the family at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Carter Borden, 3978 Borden Road, Hayes, Va.
