William M. Walton, 79, of Gloucester, Va., passed away on Saturday, May 13, 2023.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Emmett J. Walton and Lula V. Gunn Walton; his son, William Keith Walton; brothers, Charlie and Lee; sisters, Christine, Nellie and Hilda.

He is survived by his wife, Ruby Mae Walton; daughters, Jennifer West and Lee Anna Walton; stepsons, Gene Squires and Tommy Squires; sister, Rebecca Walden, and brother, Lloyd Walton, along with extended family.

He was born in Glenns on Oct. 5, 1943. He was the 8th child in the family.

He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1961 and served in Germany and at Fort Lee until 1964.

He worked at Naval Weapons Station, Yorktown, in Ordnance for 35+ years.

After a brief retirement, he started working at Rosewell Cemetery as a grounds keeper.

Visitation will be held from 9:30-1 a.m. on Thursday, May 18, 2023, at Beech Grove Baptist Church, Hayes, Va., followed by funeral service and graveside burial.
