William L. Hayes of Hayes, passed away on Sunday, April 28, 2024, at 60. Willie, or “Big Guy,” his daughter lovingly called him, was born on November 5, 1963. He worked and retired from Newport News Shipbuilding. He knew no strangers and was helpful to everyone. His heart was as big as his arms could reach. Willie loved a good prank, but what he loved most was his family and being “PawPoe” to his grandbabies. Willie was preceded in death by his father, Leslie Herbert Hayes Jr., and his son, Jacob William Hayes. Willie is survived by his wife, Gabriella; his daughter, Alexis (Eric); his bonus son, Trevor (Kylie), and his grandbabies, Adalae, Oliver, and Hanna. He is also survived by his mother, Jane (Bill); his sister, Melinda (Todd); niece, Katie, and nephew, Ryan (Emily), and the mother of Alexis and Jacob, Teresa (Bobby). The family will receive friends at Hogg Funeral Home on Thursday, May 9, 2024, from 6-7 p.m. The inurnment will be private.
