William Kenton Carr, 62, of Hayes, Virginia, passed away on Tuesday, April 11, 2023, at VCU Hospital in Richmond. Kent was born on May 24, 1960, in Newport News, Virginia, to the late N. Clements Carr Jr. and Lois Marie Ash Carr. Kent resided in Gloucester County for the majority of his life, attended Fork Union Military Academy, and graduated from Gloucester High School in 1978. A hard-working man, who loved being a fourth-generation waterman, oystering, scalloping, and fishing; owned and operated Kent Carr Seafood and Kent Carr Specialized Hauling. An avid Redskins and NASCAR fan loved to go to the Daytona 500 and attend Bob Seger concerts as well as Guns and Roses concerts.
He is survived by his brother, Randall A. Carr of Hayes; sisters, Cynthia Carr Garrison (Carleton) of Manassas, Virginia, and Rachael Carr Ward of Hayes; four nephews, Ryan Ward of Gloucester, Alan Ward and Warner Ward of Gwynn’s Island, and Cole Garrison of Manassas, and niece, Ashley Garrison of Manassas, as well as an aunt, uncle, numerous cousins, and friends. The family will receive friends on Friday, April 14, 2023, from 6-7 p.m. at Hogg Funeral Home, Gloucester Point. On Saturday, April 15, 2023, in Gloucester Point Baptist Church, 7741 Terrapin Cove Road, Gloucester Point, Va. 23062, the family will receive friends from 1-1:45 p.m. with a funeral service beginning at 2 o’clock, conducted by Pastor Dillon Evans. Interment will follow in the Gloucester Point Cemetery. In memory of Kent, contributions may be made to Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, 507 Capitol Court, N.E., Washington, D.C. 20002.
