On June 22, 2012, God sent His angels for William K. Ashe of Gloucester. He peacefully departed this life with his family by his side to be present with the Lord. He "fought the good fight, he finished the race, and kept the faith." He was 71 years old.
He was born and raised in Hampton, Va. He was working with the City of Hampton Fire Department when called to serve his country in the U.S. Army. Upon discharge he returned to Hampton to continue his career with the fire department until his retirement in 1995.
He was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather and will be deeply missed.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Kelly Z. and Cornelia L. Ashe.
Left to forever cherish his memory are his wife of 45 years, Nancy Kennedy Ashe; two children, Christopher and wife Lori, and Susan Archer and husband Lorne; three brothers, Larry F. Ashe and wife Sherry, Steven W. Ashe and wife Connie, Michael G. Ashe and wife Sheri; grandchildren, Christopher Jr. and Sierra Ashe, Tyler, Logan, and Katelyn Archer; along with a host of nieces and nephews.
He touched the lives of his family and many others leaving them all with many warm and loving memories that will last the rest of their lives.
A funeral service was conducted Wednesday, June 27, at Peninsula Funeral Home, Newport News, with interment in Peninsula Memorial Park.
