William Herschel Smith, 75, of Gloucester, went to be with the Lord, March 21, 2014.

Herschel was known as a gentle and kind Christian man and was employed as a floor covering installer for many years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Norman and Anne Hunt Smith, and brother, O. Ronald Smith.

He is survived by his wife, Goldie Smith; sons, Wayne Smith and Robert Smith; granddaughter, Tabitha Schwartz and husband, Greg; grandson, Brian Smith; great-grandson, Logan Smith; sister, Wyolene Pointer, and brothers, Weyman Smith and Harold Smith.

A memorial service was held 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 26, 2014 at Hogg Funeral Home, Gloucester Point. The family received friends following the service on Wednesday at the funeral home.
