William Franklin West, 76, a lifelong native of Gloucester and waterman died July 17, 2012 at his home.
He was born August 8, 1935 to the late Peter and Addie Brown West.
He worked hard as a waterman, and loved the time he spent at Marshall’s oyster house with his friends talking and sharing about the good ole days of being a waterman. He enjoyed gardening and working in his yard. Franklin was good to his family and friends, and he will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Ann West; sons, Bernard L. West and wife Janie, Raymond F. West and wife Judy, Donald W. West; brother, Elwood West and wife Eva West; sisters, Elizabeth Ann Hall and husband Ira Hansford Hall, Ester Emerson; grandchildren, Dawn, Brittney, Nicki, Daniel and Matthew; great-grandchildren, Gracie, Gladys, Lillie and Grayson.
Funeral service conducted by the Rev. Richard Whiteheart was held 2 p.m. Sunday at Hogg Funeral Home, Gloucester Point. Inurnment was private. The family received friends Saturday from 7-8:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
