William Franklin (Billy) Burke of Gloucester Point, died on Saturday, June 7, 2014.
He was born on Jan. 6, 1919 in Selden, Va., to Charles and Verna Burke. He was a veteran of World War II and a longtime member of Abingdon Episcopal Church, the Gloucester American Legion, and the Abingdon Ruritan Club.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, David Burke.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Florence Burke; his daughter, Kathy Harris and her husband Jim; his grandson, Burke Harris; and nieces, Pat Carlton and Nancy Heflin.
Graveside services will be held at Abingdon Church Cemetery on Friday, June 13, 2014, at 2 p.m.
