A memorial service for William D. Lemke of Gloucester, was held at 11 a.m. Saturday in Providence Baptist Church, Hayes. He died Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2012.
Mr. Lemke was an independent insurance agent, operated Metro Insurance Agency in Gloucester and for several years worked for Schwan’s. He was a member of Providence Baptist Church, and a former member of Knights of Columbus and Marine Corps League Auxiliary, Virginia Beach.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George F. Lemke Jr. and Mary T. Lemke; paternal grandparents, Marie C. Snyder Lemke Madigan and George F. Lemke Sr., and maternal grandparents, Agnes Kathleen Berry Tingle and William C. Tingle of Norfolk.
Survivors include his wife, Cynthia Lemke; children, Michele C. Lemke Price of Kansas City, Mo., Rebecca E. Lemke of Sterling, George F. Lemke III of Goldsboro, N.C., Angela M. Lemke of Gloucester; a sister, Kathy Lemke Haun, also of Goldsboro; foster brother, Bill Scott of Hampton, and five grandchildren.
The service was conducted by the Rev. Dr. Richard Croxton and inurnment was private.
