William “Bill” Walker, age 82, of Gloucester, died on Wednesday, January 29, 2025. Bill was born on November 19, 1942 to the late Elmer Thornton and Dorothy Booth Walker. Bill graduated from Warwick High School and went on to receive a Bachelor’s Degree from Old Dominion University. Bill had a successful career in sales, where his dedication and hard work left a lasting impact on his customers. He was known for his warm personality and willingness to help others, particularly when he worked in the medical supply business.
Beyond his career, Bill had a deep love for the water. Whether boating, fishing, crabbing or simply enjoying a sunrise from his deck, the water was where he found one of his greatest joys. He also treasured his time with friends, always ready with a story, a laugh, or a helping hand. His friendships were a true testament to the kindness he showed to everyone around him. Bill spent every Monday for the past several years delivering Meals on Wheels. He looked forward to the opportunity to help others and he also loved the friendships he formed with the other drivers and their special breakfast outings.
In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his brother, Elmer Walker Jr. He is survived by his daughter, Heather Peterson (Mike) and grandson, Pace; daughter, Karen Baumgartner (Jay), and grandchildren, Victoria, Haleigh, and Matthew. Beloved canine companion Carley survives him also. A Celebration of Life service will be held at Warwick Yacht Club in Newport News, Va., on Saturday, March 8, 2025, from 2-4:30 p.m.
