Bessida Cauthorne White will give a talk on “DNA 101: An Introduction to Genetic Genealogy,” at 4 p.m. Sunday, March 26, at the Middlesex County Historic Courthouse, 877 General Puller Highway, Saluda.
The talk is sponsored by the Middlesex County Museum and Historical Society.
This presentation for beginners will include an explanation of basic genetic genealogy terms, the types of DNA testing that may be used for genealogical purposes, the DNA tests currently on the market, the type of information that they can provide, who should be tested, and the limitations of DNA testing, a release said.
White will share these basics as well as her personal experiences with DNA testing for herself and her family. She has been a genealogist for 40 years and manages DNA test results for 35 of her family members and friends. A founder of two genealogy societies, she frequently lectures on various aspects of family and community history.
