Nothing tastes quite as good as chili on a cold winter’s day. The West Mathews Community League welcomed about 100 diners on Feb. 22, offering 14 varieties of chili in a fundraising dinner. WMCL president Al DeWitt said people chose many varieties to taste, adding cornbread and dessert to make a complete meal. The fundraiser is helping the league replace windows at its headquarters, the former Peninsula School which dates from 1913.
