National Honey Bee Day will be celebrated from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday at Brent and Becky’s Bulbs in Gloucester.The Colonial Beekeepers Association will be at the business to demonstrate how honey is extracted from the comb, and to share information about everything to do with honey bees.
Hive openings are scheduled at 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Talks will include “The Amazing Honey Bee” at 10:30 and “How to be a Beekeeper” at 12:30.
Local honey and other hive products will be for sale. Other activities are planned for children, and honey tastings are also on the slate.
Other attractions will include Gloucester Master Gardeners, talking about pollinator friendly gardens; mead tastings from Breezy Hill Meadworks; information from Bee City, honey-based beauty products from beauty by Nature and Bee One Essential.
Boy Scout Troop 111 will be selling lunches.
