‘What Is It?’ Night returns to Mathews Museum

The Mathews Museum at 200 Main Street, Mathews, will host “What Is It?” Night from 6-8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 2. The museum is offering the night in conjunction with the Fairfield Foundation.
The public is invited to take artifacts for information, which can include pottery, ceramics, arrowheads, and other found objects, a release said. There is no charge for this event.
“The museum has enjoyed hosting this event in past years and is pleased to bring it back this year,” Mathews Museum president Tom Robinson said. “What we’ve found from experience is that some of the objects are very difficult to identify. If we can’t identify the object that night, we will work with the owner to determine its provenance.” 
Tea party
Also, the museum is hosting a tea party and 18th century fashion show to be held from 2-4 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 18. The event will include an imagined conversation between Martha Washington and Abigail Adams, in the persons of Ladies Victorian owners Marilyn Iglesias and Kim Fors...
