Mathews Land Conservancy hold its 16th annual Wharf to Wharf Swim at 1 p.m. Sunday at Williams Wharf Landing, Mathews. This open water swim will be approximately one mile out and back in the East River from Williams Wharf.
Registration and check-in begins at noon. All ages and abilities are welcome and swim aids are permitted. Forms will be available at registration or can be found online at www.mathewslandconservancy.org/wharf-to-wharf-swim.
Swimmers should raise at least $100 in tax-deductible sponsorship funds, which will benefit the Williams Wharf Project. Prizes will be awarded to top fundraisers.
Swimmers will start in waves: 1st Wave for Non-Assisted Swimmers (medals will be awarded), 2nd Wave for Assisted Swimmers (swim aids). Times will be recorded for all by the Mathews Outdoor Club.
Conditions for the swim will be ideal with air and water temperatures in the 70s and minimal jellyfish. Swim caps will be provided for the participants and must be worn during the event.
