Wharf to Wharf Swim

Patrick McGarrity of King George, left, completed the mile-long Wharf to Wharf Swim in East River on Saturday with a time of 23:15, becoming the day’s fastest swimmer. Tim Walkawicz of Williamsburg, center, was second in 24:20, followed by Cayden McDearmon, right, of Hartfield, in 25:02. Twenty-eight swimmers ranging in age from 12 to 72 completed the course from Williams Wharf to Hicks Wharf and back. The swim was a collaboration between the Mathews Outdoor Club and Mathews Land Conservancy, supported by Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 66 and local kayakers.
