Wetlands board approves 9 shoreline projects

The Mathews County Wetlands Zoning Board unanimously approved nine requests during its May 6 meeting, which was held electronically. The Mathews Wetlands Zoning Board meets on the first Wednesday of each month at 7 o’clock. Current and past meetings can be viewed at mathewscountyva.gov/government/meeting-portal.
Joseph Perdue sought permission to construct a nine-foot marsh sill, 54 feet of marsh toe protection, and 75 feet of rriprap. The project is along the Horn Harbor shoreline.
Joseph and Anna Marie Yurvati requested to build a 12 by 80-foot stone wall with sand backfill, along with 27 feet of riprap. The project is located on the East River.
Chesapeake Station Homeowners Association, or CSHOA requested to construct two 85-foot vinyl groins and three 100-foot vinyl groins and sand backfill. This project is on Chesapeake Bay shoreline.
Tomoko Hamada requested to construct a 125 by five-foot riprap revetment along the Chesapeake Bay shoreline.
