Interns in the Werowocomoco Youth Program have the opportunity to experience different careers with the National Park Service. One such professional development opportunity is spending time with the law enforcement division.
Last month, Werowocomoco interns and other interns from the Chesapeake Trail and Colonial National Historical Park had the opportunity to train in defensive tactics and arrest techniques. The physical, hands-on training introduced beginners to skills employed by law enforcement rangers in different situations.
During the training day, interns gained an understanding of the work law enforcement rangers perform to maintain the safety of parks for visitors.
