Weekly readings of the Gazette-Journal for blind and vision-impaired people are now available on the WHRO Voice reading service.
The one-hour program will be aired every Monday at 2 p.m. and is available on demand 24 hours a day at whro.org/voice.
“We are delighted to welcome the Gazette-Journal to our growing list of local newspaper readings and greatly appreciate the support of the publisher and dedicated professional staff,” said James Holzer, program coordinator for The Voice. The Gazette-Journal joins eight other independent newspapers in southern Virginia whose publications are being read for listeners by more than 50 volunteers, he said.
“Most important of all,” said Holzer, “the readings reconnect visually impaired listeners with their local community while recognizing the importance of strong local journalism in the community.
