Beaverdam Park Supervisor Patti McGrath reported this week that bass ranging in size from two pounds, eight ounces to the six-pound, eight-ounce catch that took the Big Fish Award in Saturday’s Big Bash event, have been caught recently in the reservoir.
"The bass are hanging in the deeper water and along the point across from the ranger station," McGrath said. "People have had no trouble catching them, especially using a good old pink worm." The reservoir is now at 89 degrees and was two inches short of a full pool as of Monday.
Jerry Jenkins and Ricky West took first place in the Big Bash bass tournament series event on Saturday. Second place went to Fernando Seminario and Fernando Seminario Jr.; third place went to Ron Hanke and Ed Hazler; fourth went to Carl Bex and Kevin Charity, and fifth was a tie between Jerry Hogge and Mike Gayle and James Reed and Brian West. The next outing in the series is the final open event on Sept. 15.
