With the snow and bitter cold bearing down on us over the last few weeks, the necessity of home heating is indisputable. Unfortunately, this essential system is expensive, prohibitively so for many in the community. There’s a solution, however, for one lucky household every winter.
In the thick of the 2008 housing crisis, sales coordinator Faye Gibson was struck with inspiration and approached Steve and Karen Smith, owners of Peninsula Heating and Air, with the idea of giving a system away to someone in the community. The initiative caught on and Project Comfort and Joy became an annual tradition. The giving spirit of this contest lives on all these years later, with applications pouring in nominating their friends and family.
