A newly formed walking group at Ware Episcopal Church, Gloucester, held its first meeting last week, though church and community members have been walking the grounds informally for years.
The group was inspired by Miranda McLintic who is an avid “Ware Walker,” but the group was intentionally formed in response to the COVID-19 pandemic and the group’s need for community, a release said. They seek a way to promote physically-distanced socialization that is not behind a computer screen.
“By setting a time, we’re able to intentionally enjoy one another’s company, make new friends, and take in the tranquility of the Ware Church campus,” said the Rev. Scott Parnell, rector of Ware. “People are invited both to join us for the walking group or they can come and enjoy the campus on an individual basis. The option of community is what’s important for us.”
