The Gloucester Farmers’ Market at Ware Episcopal Church on John Clayton Memorial Highway, will extend into October with the final market of the season planned for Saturday, Oct. 14.
As part of the October market, the church will be hosting a “Blessing of the Animals” at 11 a.m. in honor of St. Francis Day. Patrons are invited to bring their appropriately restrained pets or pictures of pets to receive a prayer of blessing and thanksgiving. Children are welcome to bring their favorite stuffed animals, too.
The Gloucester-Mathews Humane Society will be present with dogs available for adoption. The church will collect pet food at the market to donate to the shelter. Wet or dry food for cats or dogs will be accepted and can be left at the market manager’s table.
The Gloucester Farmers’ Market runs from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. every second Saturday, May through October. If you are interested in learning more about how you can support the market, visit glocofarmersmarket.com or email glocofarmers...
