Ware Episcopal Church, Gloucester, has released its second concert as part of its Wonder at Ware virtual concert series.
This month’s performance is within the context of Advent Lessons and Carols and features the Strings & Things Quartet. Included in the performance are excerpts from Handel’s Messiah, traditional carols and Corelli’s Christmas Concerto.
The decision to place the concert within the service of Lessons and Carols was made to put the texts of the familiar carols in conversation with scriptural prophecies of hope.
“It’s been a trying year and by reminding ourselves of God’s promises, we continue to persevere with hope that God is making the whole world new” said the Rev. Scott Parnell, Ware Church’s rector.
The online edition is a recording of a live performance that was held outdoors at Ware Episcopal Church Saturday evening. The performance is one hour and fifteen minutes and can be accessed through the series website, www.wonderatware.org.
