Ware Academy held a groundbreaking ceremony for its expansion project Monday. The project is scheduled to be completed by Dec. 15 of this year.
“It’s a pretty extensive project,” said Head of School Dawn Fleet.
Ware is adding 5,000 square feet, which includes three additional classrooms and a new technology lab. The current technology lab is housed in the historic building.
“The rooms will be a lot bigger than they are now,” said Fleet.
The new classrooms will be used for third, fourth and fifth grade students and will give them more room to move around. According to Fleet, Ware is “busting at the seams.”
This will also give more room for Ware to work with if the decision is made to expand its enrollment.
“We are at capacity at this point, so we have to do something,” said Fleet.
Also, part of the expansion project, an outdoor classroom will be built. A new pond will also be onsite for students to take part in experiential learning at their own school, instead of having to travel offsi...
