Walter George Pelkey of Gloucester, died Dec. 5, 2011 at Walter Reed Convalescent Center. He was 75.

Mr. Pelkey retired from the U.S. Air Force following 30 years of loyalty to our country.

After retirement from the Air Force, Walter majored in Electrical Engineering, receiving his degree from N.C. State University, and became associated with the Naval Warfare Center in Chesapeake.

His wife, Barbara, as well as his parents, Patrick and Helen Pelkey, preceded him in death.

Survivors include one daughter, Michele Brake and husband Robert; two sons, Grey Pelkey and wife Leslie, and Kyle Pelkey and wife Beth; six grandchildren, Rob, Natalie and Bobby Brake; Joshua, Nicolas and Michael Pelkey; siblings, Vernon Pelkey, Juanita McPherson, Carol Pelkey, Blaine Pelkey, Penny O’Neil, Terry Pelkey, Virginia Barringer and Steve Pelkey.

A graveside service, conducted by the Rev. Rita Staul, will be held Thursday at 9:30 a.m. at Deep Run Baptist Church Cemetery, 10907 Three Chopt Road, Richmond, Va. 23233. Friends will assemble at the cemetery.
