Wallace Wayne Gibson, a native of Mathews, Va., passed away peacefully on Thursday, Sept. 25, 2014, in Richmond, Va.

He is survived by his wife, Rachel Gibson. He was the doting father of Ashley Gibson of Dunn, N.C., and Lisa Johnson of Mathews; the grandfather to Lauren Johnson of Mathews; the brother of Paul Gibson of Newport News, Va., and Helen Brown of Mathews. He had a special aunt, Rose Hudgins of Mathews, and special uncle, Marvin Soles, also of Mathews.

He was a retired cross country tractor-trailer driver who was passionate about travel. He loved and was very grateful for his family and friends.

His funeral will be held at Spring Hill Baptist Church in Mathews, on Thursday, Oct. 2 at 2 p.m.
