Wallace “Wally” Richard Paige, 69, of Gloucester County, beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle, brother, and friend, ascended peacefully to his heavenly father and his eternal reward on Tuesday evening, July 18, 2023, in his home, a few days before his seventieth birthday.
Wally, owner of Paige Bus Service in Saluda, recently retired from Newport News Shipbuilding after serving for 51 years, assisting in the building of warships for the U.S. Navy. He was also a faithful prayer warrior and servant in the service to The King of Kings.
Wally, youngest son of the late Samuel and Helen Thornton Paige, is survived by his wife, Doris, a retired public educator; his son, Wallace II (“Ricky”); his daughter, Sharra; daughter-in-law, Christina; grandchildren, Traveil, Naomi, and Alana; brothers, Ernest and Ronald; and a host of other relatives, friends, and co-workers.
To celebrate Wally’s homegoing, a wake was held at J.K. Redmond Funeral Home in Shacklefords, Va., on Wednesday, July 26, 6-8 p.m., and a graveside service will be held at Windsor Gardens Cemetery, Dutton, Va., on Thursday, July 27, 11 a.m.
