Voter registration deadline Monday for Nov. 7 election

The Nov. 7 general election is less than a month away, and the deadline to register to vote in that election is 5 p.m. this Monday, Oct. 16.
Registration can be accomplished in many locations, including local voter registration offices and online at www.elections.virginia.gov. A resident can check registration status at this location as well.
Bobbi Morgan, director of elections for Gloucester, said in an ad that “New legislation allows voters who miss this deadline … to use Same Day Registration to register and vote on a provisional ballot on election day.” This ballot would be reviewed by the electoral board after the election.
Other significant dates are also approaching, according to notices from Morgan and Mathews County director of elections Carla Faulkner.
The last day to request an absentee ballot by mail is Friday, October 27.
