Vote ‘Yes’ on the referendum

Editor, Gazette-Journal:
I am voting yes for the bond referendum on Gloucester’s Nov. 7 ballot, and I ask others to join me.
I’m a firefighter, a father of three children in Gloucester schools, and a Gloucester Outlaws Football dad. So, I know firsthand that improving our fire and rescue stations, our schools, and our parks would have a big impact on Gloucester families and all citizens. Our kids are the future of our community, and this referendum is about them, and all of us.
As a firefighter, I can say that we need more space in our fire stations here. We should all want top-notch fire and rescue facilities so that our volunteers can respond as quickly as possible to calls. Saving minutes makes a difference.
As a dad, I see every day that we need schools that meet code. We need the 50-year wing at Botetourt to meet code and be secure. We need our 30-year sports complex at Gloucester High School to be safe and offer a secure place for our students and our community to participate in ...
