What looked to be a cold and rainy day turned out to be a great night for racing at Virginia Motor Speedway Saturday for the opener of Virginia Army National Guard Dirt Series action at the Middlesex County track.
Taking home wins were Justin Williams of Shipman (Victory Lap Late Models), Walker Arthur of Forest (Aaron’s Pro Late Models), Matt Quade of Mechanicsville, Md. (Budweiser Modifieds), Hunter Shelton of Fredericksburg (Truckin’ Thunder Sportsman) and Andrew Torbox of King William (Collision One Limited Stock Cars).
Among local racers, Brett Adkins of Gloucester took third in the Sportsman feature, Anthony Kincaid of Hayes came in fourth in the Victory Lap Late Models and Neal Hudgins of Grimstead placed fifth in the Aaron’s Pro Late Models.
The speedway will take Saturday off due to the NASCAR races at Richmond International Raceway, returning to action on Saturday, May 3, for Truckin’ Thunder Scout Night. The night will feature the third annual Dirtwoo...
