Virginia Motor Speedway track president and owner Bill Sawyer announced Dec. 2 that he has decided to cease operations at the Middlesex County dirt track after 25 seasons of racing under his ownership.

“I wish there was an answer, but this decision wasn’t made easy. I am very sorry to have to make this decision,” he said.
