VMRC to consider changes to blue crab regulations

The Virginia Marine Resources Commission will hold a public hearing at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday on proposed changes to regulations governing the blue crab fishery. The meeting will be held at the VMRC building, 380 Fenwick Road, Building 96, Fort Monroe.
The changes would amend the season and bushel limits for the remainder of the 2023 commercial crab pot fishery and remove discretionary time of year restrictions on fish pots.
According to the draft regulation, this year’s commercial crab pot season would be extended by two weeks, through Dec. 16, if approved.
