Virus numbers continue downward trend

COVID-19 numbers continued their downward trend during the past week, with Gloucester County reporting 42 new cases of the virus between last Wednesday and this Wednesday, for a total of 3,851 cases since the pandemic began. There was one COVID death, bringing that total to 75, and no new hospitalizations, leaving the total at 91.
Mathews had 10 new cases recorded, for a total of 889, with no new deaths or hospitalizations, leaving those totals at 21 and 29, respectively. Middlesex added six cases, for a total of 943, and one death, bringing that total to 30 county residents who have died from COVID. There were no new hospitalizations, leaving the total at 33.
Across the Three Rivers Health District, there were 205 new cases, upping the number to 15,327; 12 new hospitalizations, for a total of 549; and five deaths, for a total of 273 since March 2020.
