A free documentary film, “Monuments with Blackboards” exploring the history of Rosenwald Schools in Virginia will be shown at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 1, at the Virginia Museum of History & Culture.
Registration is required in advance. Those desiring to attend should visit Virginiahistory.org to sign up.
A release said the film features interviews with alumni, community leaders, and experts to explore the impact of the Rosenwald School program on generations of Black Virginians. The film also highlights efforts of many communities across Virginia to preserve the legacy of these schools, the release said.
